Stamfordshire, United Kingdom – Marking a stellar weekend for Team Windurra, Boyd finished both On Cue and Tsetserleg TSF in the top ten at the iconic DEFENDER Burghley Horse Trials CCI5*-L. Tsetserleg TSF led the duo on the scoreboard, taking ninth place overall and finishing on a final score of 49.7, while On Cue rounded out the top ten on a 50.6.
Both horses, owned by Christine, Tommie, and TJ Turner, produced lovely dressage work to start the competition, with Tsetserleg TSF earned a 28.1 with On Cue closely behind on a 31.8. Both horses sat in the top 20 before cross-country – Thomas in sixth and Cue in 16th.
Burghley, known for it’s massive cross-country track and challenging terrain, proved a difficult challenge for majority of the field, but Thomas and Cue made efficient work of the bold course, both coming home with only time faults added to their dressage score.
With a tight grouping of scores at the top of the leaderboard, show jumping played an influential role in the shakeout of the final standings. Boyd and Thomas had an unfortunate three rails down in their tour of the course to finish on their final score of 49.7. Boyd and Cue had two rails down to complete on a final total of 50.6. Both horses will return home and enjoy a long vacation before legging back up for the 2024 season.
